The Environmental Impact Assessment or soon E.I.A is a systematic study, with a strictly defined structure and content in terms of the description of the project or activity, the identification and evaluation of the main effects on the environment, the description of the measures for prevention, reduction or restoration of the negative effects on the environment, the examination of alternatives aimed at more efficient operation (of the project or activity) with minimal environmental impact in accordance with current legislation.

With the Decision of the Approval of the Environmental Terms  of each project, the Management imposes conditions, terms, restrictions and variations for the realization of a project or activity, especially in terms of location, size, type, the applied technology and the general technical characteristics.

The basic legislation for M.P.E. is Law 4014/2011 (Government Gazette 209 / A` 21.9.2011) entitled “Environmental licensing of projects and activities, arbitrary regulation in relation to the creation of an environmental balance and other provisions of the Ministry of Environment”, as amended and in force.

Recent legislation with significant changes is Law 4635/2019 (Government Gazette 167 / A` 30.10.2019) “I invest in Greece and other provisions”.

The structure of an EIA specialized with Y.A. 170225/2014 (Government Gazette 135 / B` 27.1.2014) entitled “Specialization of the contents of the environmental licensing files of projects and activities of Category AD of the decision of the Minister of Environment, Energy and Climate Change with no. 1958/2012 (21 / Β) as in force, according to article 11 of law 4014/2011 (209 / Α), as well as any other relevant details “, as amended and in force.
